Hello!

Phoning For Results

There seems to be some confusion with this procedure – our protocol is if your Doctor has suggested a time for you to call for your results (or other matters) please be aware they are unlikely to be available to take your call outside those times.
We also recommend it is important to speak to or make an appointment to see the Doctor who ordered the tests.

Influenza (FLU) Immunisation

If you are on our recall list you would have received information regarding these immunisations. However, if you have not received this information please speak to our Receptionists.

Influenza

Influenza infection occurs every year in the community. Most cases of influenza occur within a 6 to 8 week period mostly in the winter to spring months. This is known as the influenza season. Pandemics (involving a high proportion of people in a geographic region or continent) have occurred four times in the past 100 years.
Influenza is caused by highly contagious virus, which is spread by coughs and sneezes. The person you catch it from may be well at the time and you can pass it on to others before realizing you are unwell.
Influenza affects people differently. Most people are ill for a few days but some are much sicker and need hospitalization.
The usual symptoms are:

  • Sudden onset
  • Fever
  • Muscle aches
  • Weakness
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Cough

Pathology

We now have St Vincent’s collection centre on site. Their opening hours are:
Monday to Friday from 8am – 1pm.

Wendy

Many of you have enquired after Wendy – she is now convalescing at home after successful knee surgery. She wishes to say thank you to people who have asked after her. We all miss her here.

Thank you

We would like to say thank you to our patients who have recommended our surgery to others. We trust we keep up with the standard you expect – if not we encourage you to say so.

Regards,
Bev Petersen
